MALE TO FEMALE BREAST AUGMENTATION
BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE
MALE TO FEMALE BREAST AUGMENTATION
Living in a body that feels foreign is a challenging situation that leads to unnecessary stress and anxiety. Fortunately, the latest surgical techniques and technology have made gender transition more common than before. Breasts are a very important component of a feminine concept of beauty and sensuality. The appearance of the breasts is closely tied to self-image and body confidence. “Top Surgery” or male to female breast augmentation is often times one of the first procedures performed during a patient’s gender transition.

A MORE FEMININE APPEARANCE
A MORE FEMININE APPEARANCE
For patients in Chicago Breast augmentation for transgender patients is generally performed when hormone therapy fails to provide satisfactory enlargement of the breasts.
Genetically male breast tissue is similar to genetically female breast tissue allowing surgeons to use conventional breast augmentation techniques to perform transgender breast surgery. With Male to Female Breast augmentation Chicago Plastic Surgeon Dr David Shifrin can provide dramatic improvement in the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts. In addition, the silhouette and proportion of the upper body is often improved, allowing clothes to fit better and giving the whole body a more feminine appearance.
IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF YOUR CHEST
Feel Better About Your Appearance
Whether breast augmentation is performed alone or in combination with other transgender procedures such as body contouring, facial feminization or buttocks augmentation, our goal is to help you feel better about the appearance of your chest and improve the confidence you have in your body. The shape of augmented breasts depends on the implant selected for use. Implants can be round or teardrop-shaped (anatomical). Anatomical implants provide defined upper pole volume while smooth round implants fill out the normal soft tissue of the breast. The different implant styles have vastly different feel due to their internal composition.
HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR BODY GOALS
Realistic expectations are important.
Some patients think of breast size in terms of bra cup size. If a size “A” wanted to be a size “C”, there needs to be adequate existing breast tissue coverage: otherwise there could be visible or palpable implant edges and other possible risks.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT IMPLANT FOR YOU
WHAT ARE SMOOTH AND TEXTURED IMPLANTS?
Smooth Implants have smooth surfaces that freely move within a dissected breast pocket. Smooth implants were the first used in breast implant manufacturing and remain the standard today. A textured (roughened surface) implant is designed to maintain the position of the implant within the breast pocket. It adheres to the overlying tissue “like Velcro” holding the implant in its place.

What are the choices of implant positions?
The simplest surgical placement of the implant is under the breast tissue (submammary).
A slightly more difficult surgical placement is under the chest muscle (submuscular or subpectoral). There is slightly more pain postoperatively than with a submammary positioning during your breast augmentation procedure but the submuscular position does provide extra tissue to hide the implant edge making it more natural appearing.
