Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or alteration of the underlying bone. Commonly, the nose and/or neck are addressed with the chin. The chin and nose are seen by our eyes as a unit. Dr. Shifrin may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose. Alternatively, Dr. Shifrin may recommend surgery of the neck to improve the balance of the lower third of the face and neck.
